Meanwhile, back on Planet Earth, here's a prewriting/rough draft activity that students will do prior to writing a Thank You card to someone of their choice. When challenged to complete this kind of task, students should be capable of succeeding. Of course, some will need some help, but that's what teachers do. Don't take "It's too hard" for a legitimate response.
